Princip sítotisku / Principle of screen printing
Screen printing is one of the oldest techniques of printing. It originated in the Far East and originally used wooden frames with screens made of human hair. Nowadays material for screens is polyamide and polyester, the frames are made of aluminium. The principle is still the same.
Stretched screen is layered with emulsion, film with motive is then put on the screen and selectively exposed to light. After that the screen is washed with water and the emulsion is washed out where the motive was.
The printer or the printing machine then pushes paint through the screen using a floodbar. The paint will only be pushed through the screen that is not covered by emulsion.
Multicolor print is realised by using several screens with different paints.
